The dosimeter works constantly - it never turns off!
Although the device has a power button, it can never be turned off. After all, the duration of continuous operation of this model without replacing batteries with a normal radiation background is about 80 thousand hours, which is equivalent to 10 years!
If you want the dosimeter to work as long as possible without replacing the batteries, then you need to:
- install reliable unexpired batteries;
- exclude prolonged exposure of the dosimeter to low and / or high temperatures;
- in the "MEASUREMENT" mode, turn off the sound and light indication of the registration of radioactive decay or switch to the "CLOCK" mode.
In the "CLOCK" mode, the device also continues to measure the background radiation level and, if the threshold value is exceeded, it will warn you with sound and light signals.
Reliable and time-tested sensor
The dosimeter has an SBM-20-1 counter. This Russian-made counter has a mass production and is used in many dosimetry devices.
The Rodnik 3 dosimeter evaluates the radiation situation by the power of ionizing radiation, responding to continuous X-rays, gamma radiation and a flux of high-energy beta particles.
The device operates in the range of radiation dose rate from 1.0 to 100,000 μR / h (from 0.01 to 1000 μSv / h). This range is quite sufficient for monitoring the background radiation level both in standard living conditions and in more rare non-standard situations.
Moreover, the device has a self-diagnosis function. In case of failure of the counter, the device will inform about this with a special message on the display.
Well thought out design and interface
On the side of the dosimeter, there are two holes in the housing for installing a strap for easy carrying of the device on your hand or around your neck (the strap is not included in the kit).
Moreover, the dosimeter can be installed on a refrigerator as a clock: inside the body of the device on the back side there are two strong neodymium magnets for attaching to any metal surfaces.
The monochrome display is easy to read. Quite a large indication that allows you to use the dosimeter even as a household clock (for example, on a bedside table).
One button control
The device has only one button. However, you can customize:
