Description
This listing is for one (1) Jomar JHH-21 NELA Verification Instrument. The JHH-21 is a Gamma / Neutron Detector, developed at Los Alamos National Labs. It was used to verify that Nuclear Explosive Like Assemblies contained no Uranium or Plutonium and were not Nuclear Weapons. For example, before a plane was allowed to take off with a dummy nuke (or anything that even looked like a nuke) somebody had to go over it with one of these to make sure that the NELA really was non-nuclear.
We do not know what detector is used. Later versions used a Bicron 1M2/2 NaI(TI) Socket Base Scintillation Detector, but the detector in these is a different shape (a cylinder protruding from a cuboid, as opposed to a simple cylinder) and covered in tape. We suspect that it may be something similar, but we do not know what.
Surplus from a government lab. Untested and sold as-is, officially "for parts or not working" with no guarantee of functionality or completeness whatsoever. The LCD display may have suffered some leakage.
This is the only one on the market - don't let it get away!
