    Description

This is what you have been waiting for...a 29  piece set by Steubenville Horizon called "The Family Affair". This delightful set shows the papa rooster, momma hen and two baby chicks in bright reds, greens and yellows. Steubenville made the Horizon sets in the 1950's. It appears that originally there was 30 pieces to a set. It's funny to look back and suddenly realize my grandparents lived in the area and the neat things my mom could have bought. Ohio in general has/had some great potteries.
This set is fun for display or to use. Lucky you if you have a farm to use this on a or imagine a chicken house turned into a cottage, actually anywhere these go will make a statement and bring a smile to many faces.
I think the pieces are in very nice condition overall. There is one single chip on backside of a dessert/bread plate. I am rather clueless how that even happened everything is so nice. There is no crazing, no grey utensil marks, no dings other than what was mentioned. All the pieces are very clean. The cups have some stains, which is shown in photos, these are light, but,  yes you can see. Look at the photos. The gravy boat has some stain around the lower perimeter, which is not really noticable when setting on table.I know that people more astute than me can sometimes remove these types of things. I do not do "restoration" since experimenting on my silver Tiffany perfume flask and cleaning my nice California oil painting, results were not good!. There is some fading of the red, not on all pieces though!. Personally I think this adds more charm and a little more custom look to the rooster plumage, but look at the photographs. I have not taken pictures of everything because condition did not warrant. Please remember that these dishes are well over 50 years old and some very slight abrasions may exist but not really noticeable or even photographable. I don't believe these pieces were used very much.
